With snow and ice outside every window, and more expected tomorrow, we decided to take a little excursion to Tower Hill Botanical Garden, near Worcester.
The camellia show was the original impetus, but the warm, warm orangerie was an added treat, as was the Lemon House and the piano music of Joe Blanchard.
I made a point of memorizing the names of several plants that keep turning up on MisterSmartyPlants, where I go there to help John identify flowers that people post. It’s a bit of a challenge as the plants come from all over the world and are often not familiar to me. (I hope you’ll consider identifying some, here.)
Here are a few pictures from today’s outing.

So beautiful. I have to go there sometime.
When we lived in the Philadelphia area, we loved to visit Longwood Gardens. Tower Hill is not quite Longwood, but it is very special all the same and not too far for us. It has a supportive crew of volunteers and many interesting activities for different age groups. Today felt like Senior Citizen Day.
If I am in Philly, I will have to visit. I love gardens. 🙂
Interesting!
I would bet this was a very popular spot, given the weather! I may need to go to Montreal, just to visit their botanical garden and get warm.
Is there one in Montreal? The one we went to was indeed popular in the cold weather, which is continuing for the foreseeable future in Massachusetts.
The gardens are a perfect place to go as spring is fighting to come! Do they play music there, often? It sounds like a wonderful family visit.
They do have concerts there, but I don’t live close enough to visit often. I really appreciate your nice comments. I am not reliable about reciprocating as I’m still working full-time and tire out at night. But I do want to check out your blog.
