I noted the little blue talisman but didn’t stop, walking on toward the path. Then I turned back. “Asakiyume would take a picture,” I thought. On the way back up the path I saw the little white talisman.

What a wonderful walk! What wonderful finds! I’m *so glad* you took the pictures. (I love especially the baby rocks, near the mother rock β€
The painted rock is a local treasure. It gets repainted almost as fast as you paint it. People paint memorials, birthday wishes, wedding announcements, holiday pictures. It is not uncommon in summer to see a family pile out of a car with paint cans and brushes and get to work!
That’s extra-wonderful, that it changes: it’s dynamic, and there can be many different artists. (And also a lesson in impermanence and not-clinging and sharing) Yes: extra wonderful.
What a lovely painting on the rock! Hope it lasts longer than my 16th birthday message π
The next morning it was still there. A car pulled up, and a couple got out. I asked, “is this your work?” They said yes. They had brought another “baby rock.” They said people keep stealing them, but they enjoy painting them. Something to do in the evening out there. π
