I took a lot of photos in July. The light was so wonderful. If you have questions about what you are seeing here, please let me know in the comments.
I’ll just point out a few things. I took a close-up of a hosta flower. They normally look so droopy. This perky one caught my eye.
The raised flower and vegetable beds were just inaugurated at my retirement community for the many residents with green thumbs. I visit the gardens most mornings and take in the lovely scents. Is anyone else enamored of the way tomato plants smell — the leaves, the stems?
I was wildly excited when a granddaughter dug up a mole crab at the beach. I hadn’t seen one in decades. On Fire Island we used to call them “jumpies.”
I love Indian Pipes, too.
I greatly appreciated all the birthday flowers — from my son-in-law and from a dear niece and nephew.
There’s a lovely new exhibit of paintings where we live. Notice the light on those buildings.
Also notice that a dirt road can make art, too. This dirt road makes leaf prints!
I look forward to comments.

Hope you had a wonderful birthday! That mole crab sure is cute.
It was indeed a wonderful birthday — and sufficiently ancient that I now have an excuse for all my lapses!
Lovely photos! Thanks. —
Great to hear from you!
Oh my, what wonderful photos! The tree lined paths, gorgeous summer flowers displayed in raised beds,on rocks or just as a focal point, a mole crab that brought back memories of when I caught them as a child, shadows and reflections, and that painting of the buildings in fantastic….. my eyes are so happy!
LOL! Your happy eyes make me happy, too. Where did you see mole crabs in childhood? Were you in Georgia then?
Before reading this post, I had never heard of mole crabs. I don’t think we have them in Maine. Wonderful painting of the two white buildings! Happy belated birthday. Flowers are such a great gift. They bring color and beauty into our lives, but we don’t have to worry about adding clutter to our house.
And the older you are at the birthday, the more you appreciate flowers, things to eat, and donations to your favorite causes: things that also avoid clutter.
I was raised not far from ocean city , Md. Our family made some good memories there, at that time there were only sand dunes and fences, now it’s all built up and a big tourist place.
Interesting. Things have changed a lot along the coast.
lovely photos. I enjoy all your pictures. My gardens are weedy but I’m having lots done on my house so will concentrate on gardens in the fall and next summer. Love from Maine.
Good luck with your renovations, Gail. It’ll feel great when it’s done.
