After a delightful morning with my granddaughter and my older grandson, I went to Providence to hang out with my younger grandson and Suzanne and a good friend.
I caught up with them at the park, where the farmers market was winding down and a free summer concert was revving up: the annual Summit Music Festival. (Check it out here.)
The four of us liked a blues group called the Selwyn Birchwood Band (pictured) and another band called Smith and Weeden. The ice cream eater below had reservations about a third performance. Everyone’s a critic.
We spent a chunk of time going “higher, higher” on the swing in the playground and watching a multi-ethnic group of small boys kick a soccer ball. (How brave it is to go up to boys you don’t know and ask to play!) We skipped the face painting, which was gorgeous but, to a 2-year-old, kind of pointless. We watched kids and grownups painting a mural wall.

You get down here, way more often than I get to Boston. !
Give a heads up sometime; we’ll meet you at the park.
OK, Tracy Lee. I may be down more in the winter, though, in which case someplace near the park like Seven Stars or the vegan place (I forget the name)?
I know them both –Seven Stars on Hope; and the Vegan Place is exactly where my doctor’s office is. Wildflour Vegan Bakery, also on Hope.
This is going to happen, I believe it. Sometime in the next 6-9 months! 🙂
Convenient! Suzanne also recommends her friend’s cool new coffee place on Wickedon called the Shop. We’ll figure something out!
Thanks for the news from Providence
Hoping to see you there soon. Caroline S. says it’s autumn in Sweden already.
I really liked the music of the bluesgroup Selwyn Birchwod. I hope I could listen to them live and also get a chance to dance
I think they are from Florida. They said they would be playing at the Regatta Bar in Cambridge (MA) next, and that’s a major venue. Selwyn thanked us all for supporting live music, saying that if people support something, it can disappear.
